PREPROTHETIC SURGERY

Surgical preparation of the mouth before the placement of a prosthesis or denture false is known as preprosthetic surgery.

Some patients require oral preprosthetic surgery procedures before receiving a partial or complete denture, to ensure the highest level of comfort and fit. A denture sits on the jawbone and gum tissue, so it is very important that the bone is the right size and shape and the gum tissue is adequate. Sometimes the jaw is irregular, sharp, or there is excess bone. To get the best fit for a denture, it may be necessary to reshape, smooth the jaw bone, or remove excess bone.

Dr. Haddú will review your particular needs and discuss with you the treatment options of preprosthetic surgery available during your visit to the Sonrisol Dental Clinic in Torremolinos.

One or more of the following pre-prosthetic surgery procedures may be necessary to preparing your mouth for dentures:

  • Jaw reshaping and smoothing - Alveoloplasty
  • Removal of excess bone - Torus removal
  • Tuber reduction maxilla (back of the upper jaw)
  • Removal of excess tissue gums
